South London College Courses

You must be aged 16 and live in the South London or surrounding area.

 

 

Courses available are:-

BTEC First Diploma Level 2

Designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills you need for success in the sports industry, or to progress to the National Certificate in Sport. You take two core units, plus four units from your chosen pathway. There is the opportunity to specialise in rugby, football, badminton, athletics, volleyball or basketball. Assessment: Portfolio based.

Entry requirements:
  • 4 GCSE's A* - D (one in English) or a merit at BTEC introductory  / Level 1 sports course
  • You must play regular sport at club level and have a keen in a variety of practical sport

BTEC National Diploma Level 3

This 2 year qualification gives you the opportunity to study Sports Development and Coaching, whilst training and playing your chosen sport for up to 3 sessions a week. Successful completion of the course enables students to progress to University or into employment in the sports industry. You may specialise in rugby, football, badminton, athletics, volleyball or basketball or an individual sport of your choice. Assessment: Portfolio based. You take six units in each year, as well as Key Skills Communication in Sport.

Entry requirements:

  • 5 GCSE's A* - C (one in English)

  • You must play regular sport at club level and have a keen in a variety of practical sport

BTEC National Certificate

FA Level 1 Coaching




Level (2) Certificate in Coaching Football (UEFA B Part 1)

This is the natural progression route from coaching level 1 you will have the chance be able to:-

 
Coach and train with the academy team gaining valuable coaching hours for your log together with practical and theory sessions, emergency aid and laws of the game.
Develop an appreciation of the ethical coaching.
Progress plan, conduct and evaluate a series of football coaching sessions.
Coach the basic skills and techniques of football.
Promote and establish positive working relationships at all levels.
Ensure the health and safety of players and others within the coaching environment.
Develop greater responsibility for their own learning and development.
Promote the sport in a positive and
constructive manner.
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of attack and defence through the use of practices and small sided games.

NVQ Level 2

You will work towards the N.V.Q level 2 teaching, coaching and instructing football ( 1 year).
With the option completing the 1st 4 sport level 1 and level 2 coaching awards, which includes emergency aid and child protection workshop. All of our tutors, coaches and assessors are qualified to ensure that you are given the best guidance to aid your development.
 
Our awarding body will certify all successful candidates that achieve on courses.
The above qualifications will help widen your career prospects in the sports coaching industry should you decide at a later date that playing football professionally is not for you.
